Alita, also known as Gally in the original Japanese manga “Gunnm,” is the main protagonist of the science fiction manga series created by Yukito Kishiro. The series was later adapted into a live-action film titled “Alita: Battle Angel,” directed by Robert Rodriguez and produced by James Cameron.
The story is set in a post-apocalyptic future, where society is divided between the wealthy and privileged floating city of Zalem and the impoverished Iron City below. Dr. Dyson Ido, a cybernetics expert, finds the remains of a cyborg girl in a scrapyard and rebuilds her, naming her Alita. However, Alita has no memory of her past life and must navigate her way through the dangerous and brutal world while discovering her true identity.
