Top 3 new features in Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional 2023
Load Takedown Method.
Robot Structural Analysis Professional 2023 introduces Gravity Analysis, a new structural analysis type using the Load Takedown Method. The Load Takedown Method distributes floor loads onto beams, columns, and walls. The load is transferred down from the upper story to the story below and on down to the foundation. This new analysis type provides the designers with fast, informative results in the early stages of design, where gravity loads will often drive your building design decisions.
This new capability is meant to help structural engineers to:
– determine reactions on foundations very early in the design process, when design work is still being performed on the upper parts of the building;
– understand overall building behavior to optimize column layouts; and
– obtain the loads transferred to individual objects so that they can be designed to meet code requirements using simplified tools such as spreadsheets.

The Load Takedown Method provides structural analysis results in several forms. Loads are calculated for individual structural objects such as beams, columns, and walls coming from the floor load distribution; you can use these as load inputs for external design applications. Internal forces in beams and columns are also generated. Finally, you can obtain support reactions. This new analysis method will help structural engineers make design decisions earlier and faster-improving the productivity of their design and analysis workflows with Robot Structural Analysis Professional 2023.
Revit contextual analytical model integration
The Analytical Driven Modeling approach for Revit introduces new enhanced structural modeling capabilities for analytical modeling. The analytical elements are no longer created automatically with the physical model. The autonomous analytical model is represented by elements such as members, panels, and links, interconnected at nodes. The analytical model contains all the properties and data needed for analysis using tools like Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis. Now, you can control and accurately create your Revit analytical model in the context of any structural physical model geometries. The link between Revit and Robot Structural Analysis Professional software has been updated to reflect changes that have been made to the analytics modeling in Revit. The integration with the Revit contextual analytical model better supports BIM centric structural analysis workflows.

Load distribution from claddings to beams, columns, and panels was improved in terms of quality and performance.
Improved load distribution from cladding
Load distribution is process that they engineer use to determine how various structural elements takes up the load, while it is being transferred from the high-up elements, down to the foundations, from slabs, beams, columns, walls and cladding. The following performance enhancements have been applied to load distribution:
– Corrected load distribution on claddings with objects or elements carrying the load overlap.
– Improved the performance of load distribution on claddings.
– Improved distribution of linear loads on edges applied to multiple panel and cladding types defined as a single load record.
– Corrected load direction on bars coming from cladding load distribution.
This improvement will make engineers gain greater understanding of the structural load transfer, leading to greater accuracy in the structural analysis.
