Color Mixing Basics in Watercolors for Beginners: learn to use a limited color palette

In this class you will create your own dictionary of color mixing basics. By using only 6 primary colors you will explore different ways how to get secondary colors (Orange, Green, Violet), you will learn how to apply the concept of complementary colors in your color mixing and how by mixing primary colors to get hundreds of shades.

This class is great for beginners and for those who are looking to improve their color mixing skills. Using a limited color palette allows to create cohesive color schemes and to create harmonious paintings. This class is learn by doing class, once you will complete all color mixing practices you will know better your watercolors and their possibilities, as well you will be able to recreate by mixing the colors which you need.

 

After this class you will have a better understading of:

 

– color values;

 

– primary and secondary colors;

 

– how to apply in practice the concept of complementary colors;

 

– how to mix complex beautiful shades of colors,

 

– how to get the maximum out of the paints which you have.

 

In this class I use the following wartercolors of Essential Set by Daniel Smith:

 

– Hansa Yellow Light (could be substituted by Lemon Yellow/ Transprent Yellow)

 

– New Gamboge (could be substituted by Cadmium Yellow dark)

 

– Quinacridone Rose (could be substituted by Madder Rose/ Opera Rose / Carmine)

 

– Pyrrol Scarlet (could be substituted by Cadmium Red)

 

– Phthalo Blue

 

– French Ultramarine.
