Godspeed is a fictional character in DC Comics, and his real name is August Heart. He first appeared in “The Flash” Vol. 5 #3, published in 2016, created by writer Joshua Williamson and artist Carmine Di Giandomenico.
August Heart was initially introduced as a friend and fellow police officer of Barry Allen (The Flash). They worked together at the Central City Police Department. However, tragedy struck when August’s brother was killed by the villainous speedster, Eobard Thawne, also known as Reverse-Flash.
In his quest for justice and to bring down those abusing the Speed Force, August Heart became a speedster himself and adopted the vigilante persona of Godspeed. He obtained his speedster powers through an experimental Speed Force storm created by Eobard Thawne. As Godspeed, August could harness the Speed Force, granting him super-speed abilities similar to The Flash.
Initially, Godspeed was depicted as a heroic character with a strong sense of justice, seeking to protect Central City from criminals and other speedsters who misused their powers. However, as the story progressed, his methods became increasingly extreme and violent, leading him to clash with The Flash and other heroes.
Godspeed has appeared in various storylines in “The Flash” comic series, and his actions have had a significant impact on the lives of the speedster community in the DC Universe. He is known for his unique black-and-white costume with lightning-like patterns.
