Hybrid Lantern Kyle Rayner is a fictional character in comic books published by DC Comics. He is one of the several characters who have taken on the mantle of Green Lantern, a cosmic law enforcement officer empowered by a green power ring fueled by the emotional spectrum of willpower.
Kyle Rayner first appeared in “Green Lantern” Vol. 3 #48 in 1994, created by writer Ron Marz and artist Darryl Banks. He is unique among Green Lanterns because he was not chosen by the traditional Green Lantern Corps as Hal Jordan or other Lanterns were. Instead, Kyle was chosen by the last surviving Guardian of the Universe, Ganthet, after Hal Jordan’s fall from grace.
As a Green Lantern, Kyle Rayner possesses the standard abilities of a Green Lantern, including the power to create energy constructs limited only by his imagination, flight, force fields, and access to the entire emotional spectrum of willpower. His power ring was one of the most powerful versions of the Green Lantern rings at the time, as it was one of the last remaining power rings after the destruction of the Green Lantern Corps.
